Replace your PayPal account with Google Wallet before deleting it
The last day to discontinue support is June 13th.
If you've linked your PayPal account to Google Wallet to make purchases, be sure to update your payment method as soon as possible.
According to an article published by Lifehacker and reviewed by Al Arabiya Business, Google will end support for PayPal integration on June 13, and US users' PayPal accounts and transaction records will be removed from their digital wallet.
This means Google Wallet users will have to switch from PayPal to another payment method.
If you've set up a subscription or other recurring payment by linking your PayPal account, you'll need to visit the merchant's website to manually update your payment information.
Linking PayPal to Google Wallet lets you manage your cards and bank accounts all in one place, instead of managing them separately in your digital wallet.
Google has already stopped linking new PayPal accounts as of April 11, but users can continue to pay with Google Wallet using previously linked PayPal accounts.
Google Wallet supports PayPal-branded debit cards, and full PayPal integration remains available to Google Wallet users in Germany.
How to update your payment method in Google Wallet
To continue using Google Wallet after PayPal is no longer connected, you'll need to add at least one credit or debit card to your Google Account.
To add a card, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Wallet app and tap Add to Wallet at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Payment cards > New credit or debit card, then add your card details manually or use the camera to add it automatically.
- After reading the issuer's terms and conditions, tap Save and continue > Accept. To complete the linking, you may need to verify your payment method through an email, text message, bank app, or one-time deposit.
Alternatively, you can add your card through your bank's app or website, if it supports the Add to GPay feature.
